Erica Piccotti, born in 1999, graduated in cello when she was only 14 obtaining top marks, honors and highest distinction at the Conservatory of S. Cecilia in Rome under the guidance of Francesco Storino. She continued her studies at the “Hochschule der Kunste” in Bern in the class of Antonio Meneses and now she studies the Academy W. Stauffer in Cremona. She attended masterclasses with ntonio Meneses, David Geringas, Julius Berger, Thomas Demenga, Frans Helmerson, Mario Brunello, Alfredo Persichilli, Christophe Coin. She won numerous first prizes in national and international competitions including “Rassegna Nazionale d'Archi” Vittorio Veneto, “Premio Nazionale delle Arti” which elects her as the best cellist of the Italian conservatories, “Premio Città di Padova”, “Jugend Musiziert” of Nuremberg and “NYIAA Competition”, whose victory led her to play at the Carnegie Hall in New York, “International Cello Competition ‘Antonio Janigro’” for young cellists and “Premio Crescendo”, given to the best final winner in each section among all the age categories, as well as the prize “A. Provenzani”, reserved for the best cellist of the competition. The rewards include the prize “Adriana Giannuzzi” in 2012 as the best cellist of the Conservatory Santa Cecilia of Rome, in 2014 “Premio Rotary Club” of Rome and the prize “Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena” dedicated to the young talents of Accademia Chigiana, in 2015 the prize “Inner Whell”, in 2016 “Premio Memorial Tullio Besa” and “Premio Rotary Cremona”, given to the best students of Accademia Stauffer. Grant holder of “De Sono Associazione per la Musica” and of “Foundation Boubo-Music”, in 2014 she received also by the “Filarmonica della Scala” of Milan a scholarship assigned to the best young Italian cellists. She made her debut during the Christmas Concert 2012 at the Italian Chamber of Deputies live broadcasted on RAI 5, where she played in duo with Mario Brunello for the “Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia”. Since then she performed in prestigious festivals, including “Festival de Cordas e Piano” in Belo Horizonte, Festival “La lumière du Roman” in Conques, Festival “Les Nuits du Chateau de la Moutte” in Saint Tropez, "Festival Violoncellistico Internazionale Alfredo Piatti" in Bergamo, “Chigiana International Festival”, International Festival “Pietre che Cantano”, “Rovigo Cello City”, “Aurora Festival” in Vanersborg, “Janigro Festival” in Porec, “Rome Chamber Music Festival” and “Festival dei Due Mondi” in Spoleto, as well as in several concert seasons including “I Pomeriggi Musicali”, “Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese”, “AGIMUS”, “Micat in Vertice” where she played the Stradivari cello of 1682 owned by “Accademia Chigiana di Siena”, “Accademia dei Cameristi”, “Concerti e Palazzi” at the Museum of Ara Pacis in Rome, for “Mondomusica” in Cremona and for “Morigi Musica” in Piacenza. She played together with artists such as Antonio Meneses, Augustin Dumay, Miguel da Silva, Louis Lortie, Julius Berger, Mario Brunello, Bruno Canino, Bruno Giuranna, Salvatore Accardo, Danilo Rossi, Massimo Quarta. On the 8th March 2013 the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano conferred her the Certificate of Honor “Alfiere della Repubblica” for the excellent results in musical field that she achieved at a very early age.
She plays a cello by Giovanni Grancino (Milan, 1712), kindly granted by Fondazione Pro Canale of Milan.
