Compagnia Teatro Musica Novecento

The Compagnia Teatro Musica 900 was created in 1995 in Reggio Emilia by a group of singers and actors who have behind them a rich experience in theatre and operetta, gained in the most important Italian operetta companies. Since its first production, "La Vedova allegra", the Company obtained very warm acclaims from critics and public, by performing in significant festivals (Tagliacozzo, Castello Sforzesco in Milan, Sassari and others) and Italian theatres among which the "Rossini" in Pesaro, the "Nuovo" in Milano, the "Valli" in Reggio Emilia, the Roman Amphitheatre in Fiesole. After "La Vedova allegra", "Cin-ci-là" was produced in 1996, an operetta where the Company’s “innovative” and a bit “irreverent” vein pleasantly surprised: the approvals were several and enthusiastic. Another work was produced in 1998, the famous "Paese dei Campanelli" and in 2000 made its debut "La Principessa della Czarda", probably the most demanding operetta from the musical point of view, being this latter an aspect the Compagnia Teatro Musica Novecento holds very dear. In 2001 made their debut "L'acqua Cheta" by G. Pietri and "Scugnizza" by M. Costa, where the Company successfully faces the difficult challenge of the local idiom. In 2002 "La duchessa del Bal Tabarin" by L. Bard" and "Al Cavallino Bianco" by R. Benatzki were produced and made their debut, by obtaining a great success. In 2003 the Company proposed the new production of "La Vedova Allegra" and "Cin-ci-là"; in 2004 the new production of "Il Paese dei Campanelli". In 2005 "Ballo al Savoy" by Paul Abrahm successfully made its debut with the collaboration of Serge Manguette, a choreographer of international fame. Besides the waltzes, the arias and the amoroso duets, this work is full of frenetic rhythms, from the Argentinian tango to the swing, with clear allusions and references to the musical which in that period (in the 30s) was gaining a huge success overseas. In 2007 the operetta "La Vie Parisienne" by J. Offenbach made its debut with much success; it is a brilliant picture of the Parisian life of the second half of the 19th Century, period when the famous "Can Can" was born. In 2008 it is the turn of the new production "Fiore d'Hawaii" by Paul Abrahm, which lies between operetta and musical with references to the jazz music.
From the point of view of scenes and costumes all the productions are signed by Artemio Cabassi, a renowned name across Europe who collaborates with the major opera houses with singers such as Leo Nucci, Katia Ricciarelli, Fiorenza Cedolins, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Sonia Ganassi, Daniela Dessì, Renato Bruson.
