The Company

 

Compagnia Teatrale Il Ventaglio was born in 2007 with the aim to spread the passion for the musical theatre and the dance.

Its first debut in 2007 is the show "PASSION MUSIC HALL…Un Gran Galà del musical, un viaggio tra i più famosi musical di Broadway e del West End Londinese", a tribute to some great productions such as “Notre Dame De Paris”, “Chicago”, “West Side Story”, “Aida”, “Hair”… by alternating the show with its live version "CONCERT MUSIC HALL", accompanied by a live group. 

In 2009 it makes its debut with a new exciting show: "MAMMA MIA ..che guaio Sophie!! ", a tribute to the famous band ABBA, freely inspired by the original Broadway production and re-interpreted by the company. Two acts characterized by the pop music enhanced by new overwhelming choreographies, very enjoyable scenes and new songs; a sparkling and amusing show for all ages.

In 2009 it prepares also a special project, particularly suitable during the festivities: "QUANDO IL MUSICAL DIVENTA OPERA" with pieces taken from the repertoire of the famous pop rock works such as Notre dame de Paris, Jesus Christ Superstar etc. (This show is  feasible also in a church).

In 2010 the new production "BULLI & PUPE…Una Favola di Broadway" makes its debut, a show freely inspired by the homonym, romantic and enjoyable film, a journey in Time Square of the 50s. 

In 2013 the company begins the preparation of the latest production, "HOLLYWOOD MUSICAL DREAMS", the pieces we have always danced, the great films which became also great musicals from “Saturday Night Fever” to “Grease”, “Footloose”, “Flashdance”, “Dirty Dancing”, “Priscilla Regina del Deserto”! A show sung and danced by the excellent and established corps de ballet of Ventaglio, a truly captivating and exciting musical for adults and children!

In this small Company big names alternate throughout these years on the stage; Filippo Strocchi, Federica Capra, Elena Federici, Marco Romano, Gianluca Sticotti, Elisa Colummi, Alessandro Arcodia, Alessandro Brachetti, Fabio Vagnarelli, Giovanni Piscopo, Simone Mastria, Alessandro Calonaci, Loredana Colizzi, Martina Pezzoli,  Salvatore Loritto, Riccardo Berdini, Michael Anzalone and many other performers who graduated at the Prestigiuous Musical Academy "BSMT - Bernstein School of musical Theater” in Bologna (last production in July 2012 “LES MISERABLES”, Italian premiere at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna) and others who are now engaged in tours of the great Italian productions (Compagnia della Rancia, Stage Entertainment, Teatro Sistina in Rome). In addition to these exceptional artists there is a corps de ballet with qualified dancers coming from all sides of Italy. The production and the cast organization are entrusted to Elena Federici and the choreographies to Salvatore Loritto and Les Grisettes. The production of Bulli&Pupe is by Alessandro Brachetti, the choreographies are made by Salvatore Loritto (both are main characters, production and choreographers for the famous Compagnia di Operette 900).

 

Elena Federici - artistic direction

 

Elena Federici has been studying singing since she was 12, from 1999 she has been starting her studies of classical and modern dance and entered the cast of many local productions. In 2003 she passed the audition at the "BSMT – BERNSTEIN SCHOOL OF MUSICAL THEATRE - Center of the Performing Arts" in Bologna, the first Musical Academy in Italy directed by the Canadian soprano Shawna Farrell, where in June 2006 she obtained a diploma with honors as Musical Triple Performer. During her studies at the Academy she deepened various artistic disciplines like choral singing, vocal technique, acting, classical dance, tip tap and repertory musical choreographies and she had the opportunity to collaborate with important teachers like Shawna Farrel, Nathah Martin, Candice Smith, Francesca Taverni and Francesca Ballico, Franco Panizzut, Susanna Dalla Pietra. She deepened also the different Musical Comedy’ styles with a repertoire which ranges from the classics by Cole Porter, Gershwin, Bersntein to the most famous Rock Operas by Andrew Loyd Webber such as “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Cats”. During the academic period she took part in the musicals "Children Of Eden", "Nine", "Bye Bye Birdie", "Chess", "Parade" as main character and in vocal ensemble. From 2004 to 2006 she participated in several internships directed by Francesca Taverni on the musicals “Cats”, “Rent” and “A Chorus Line”. In 2006 she interpreted the "Soubrette Evelyn Nesbit" in the musical "Ragtime" at the theatre "Rossetti" in Trieste.

In 2007 she founded the Compagnia Teatrale Il Ventaglio and prepared many productions such as "Passion Music Hall", "Mamma Mia…che Guaio Sophie!", "Bulli & Pupe", "Quando il Musical diventa Opera", “Hollywood Musical Dreams”. For the Company she personally took care of the production and the musical supervision. 

In 2007 and 2008 she looked after the preparatory course for the musical at the primary school in  Vicobellignano (CR) and in June 2008 she prepared for them the show “Grease” entirely live sung, acted and danced by the children of the school. From 2010 to 2012 she was in charge of the musical course at the secondary school in Dosolo (Mantua). In January 2009 she obtained the diploma of “Metodo Estill Voicecraft Trainig Sistem”, a method of vocal technique with the aim of teaching the singing; from the same year she is teacher of modern singing and musical propaedeutic for the music school “CEPAM” in Reggio Emilia.

During summer 2012 she joined the cast of the Italian national premiere of the musical "LES MISERABLES" with the production of Teatro Comunale in Bologna and the BSMT; with Gianni Marras as producer and the musical direction by Shawna Farrell, it was an excellent musical staging never seen in Italy, accompanied by the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale and conducted by Stefano Squarzina. Since July 2014 she has been starting the collaboration with the great guitarist Cristiano Maramotti in the project "Acousticamerica".
